As a trusted brand of lightweight thermal insulation, our modacrylic fibers have been used in outerwear, garments and accessories for almost 30 years. Quilted between two extremely durable covers is a layer of modacrylic flame resistant fibers. This lofted, nonwoven fiber construction traps air and retains heat, making the shelter extremely easy to keep warm even in sub-zero environments.

Thermal test results show dramatic heat loss differences between arctic shelters using Norpac fabric vs. traditional canvas or single ply shelters. This scientific measurement is referred to as an R value. An R value is the ratio of the thickness of a material to thermal conductivity. Essentially, the higher the R value, the greater the insulating effectiveness of the material. Because our materials hold different levels or R value (for different needs), our fabrics are being used in some of the most rugged situations.
